5 Best ATV Trails In Virginia

Valley Cycle Center | 02/11/2022

As avid off-roading enthusiasts, we're always on the search for new trails to ride and awesome adventures to have. It's what we get into ATVing for, right?

After driving all over Virginia and exploring several ATV trails scattered across the state, we've made a list of five that we think you should experience. With everything from single-track to long multi-trail rides with great views, these are the best ATV trails in Virginia — at least in our opinion.

Riding with a friend is fantastic fun, and you can search for an ATV location - search side by side dealers near me

Spearhead Trails

Spearhead Trails is an off-road trail system that offers everything from gentle ridgelines and dedicated beginner areas to challenging mountain sections complete with waterfalls and narrow, rocky passages. You'll find many opportunities for mud and water crossings here, as well as plenty of scenery. The Spearhead Trail system connects with two State Parks — Natural Tunnel State Park and High Knob Recreation Area — so there are plenty of places to stay overnight if you don't want to head back home at the end of a busy day on the trail.

To start your ATV fun, look into a UTV for sale in Winchester, VA.

Mountainview Multi-View Trail

Mountainview Multi-View Trail is a 7-mile loop located near Pearisburg in Giles County. It is a moderate trail that features views of two mountain ranges and two rivers, the New River and the Little River.

The ATV trail is open year-round, but it is best to go in the late spring and early fall because it can get hot in the summertime. The area offers primitive camping along the trail, or you can stay at Mountain Valley RV Park nearby, which has RV sites and cabins. Winchester Powersports are great fun in all seasons.

ATV Trails In Virginia

Haysi's Ridgeview ATV Trail

Sections of the Haysi Ridgeview ATV trail are closed to motor vehicles, but it's open to all-terrain vehicles. The trail features a steep climb and descent near the beginning, so it's not recommended for beginners. However, once you're up on top, you can enjoy a view of the Russell Fork Gorge.

The ATV trail is located at Mountain View Recreation Area, offering camping and picnic areas.

The Original Pocahontas OHV Trail

The Original Pocahontas OHV Trail for ATV riding is at the top of the list. The Original Pocahontas OHV Trail is a challenging route with terrain that runs the gamut from hills to valleys, wooded areas, and streams.
This trail offers both natural and manmade obstacles. It is an intermediate-level trail for ATVs. The Original Pocahontas ATV trail is open year-round except when closed by snow or ice.

Several lodging options are available near the trail, including hotels, cabins, campgrounds, and private rentals. Enjoy the ride with a friend by looking for utility side by side for sale.

Coal Canyon

Coal Canyon is located in Southern West Virginia and is right near the border with Virginia. This trail can also be used by motorcycles and has an excellent level of difficulty to it. There are several different trails that you can use, which are all well marked.

A very popular spot for many ATV riders, this trail system covers 11,000 acres, and there are trails for all levels of experience. The scenery is beautiful, and the wildlife is abundant. This is an excellent spot for people who want to take their ATV out for a long ride.

Will you be riding alone or with a friend? It is always recommended that you do not ride alone. The question is - do you need to ride together? If so, then stop by side-by-side dealers in Winchester, VA.
